This gallery houses a magnificent collection of original works from Cusqueñan craftsman Hilario Mendivil (20th century), a descendent of an old family of craftsman in San Blas who revolutionized popular imagery. He created an original style with the long-neck motif.

13.-CHULLOS, an Andean style of hat with earflaps. The ones for sell in handicraft markets are usually made of alpaca or sheep’s wool.

14.-POTTERY FROM CHULUCANAS, traditionally from the north of Peru (Piura) but it’s possible to find in handicraft stores in Lima. It stands out because of its originality, exclusiveness (limited production) and beauty. Their use is more decorative than practical. 15.-PUCARA BULLS
Traditionally, these bulls are placed on rooftops as a symbol of good luck and prosperity in Cusco and Puno.
You can bring them home as a token of good luck for yourself or to give them away. They are available in small sizes as well as in the regular ones to be places on roofs, although it may be difficult to carry them as they are made of clay.
16.-PERUVIAN CHESS: INCAS VS. SPANISH CONQUERORS
On this picture, the Inca is face to face to the Spanish king. While the Spanish set has the regular horse, the Inca one features a llama! It’s funny and works as a nice ornament for home or an office. They are all hand painted and are available in different qualities and sizes.
