SOME DIFFERENCES ARE:

LLAMAS

  • Llamas are larger than alpacas.
  • Have relatively coarse wool.
  • An adult llama weighs between 130-200 kg. (280-440 lb).
  • Llama wool color is usually white, but also available in black, shades of brown, red, and beige.
  • Llama is used for meat, wool, milk and hides.
  • Llamas are very confident and brave animals. Llamas seem to be too confident/proud to ever learn tricks from humans.

 

ALPACAS

  • Alpaca is half the size of llama.
  • Alpaca has longer and finer wool.
  • An adult alpaca weighs between 50-80 kg. (110 to 176 lb).
  • Alpaca wool is available in 22 colors including black, white, pinto, brown, red, fawn, rose and gray.
  • Alpaca is mainly used for wool.
  • Alacas are very gentle and shy. They are very intelligent and can learn tricks.
