Besides visiting Machu Picchu and without a particular order of preference, here you have a list of suggestions of things you can do and eat while you are in Peru.
1.-Take a time to walk around the city of Cusco. Get lost in its ancient streets around the main square and enjoy of the unique atmosphere this city has.
2.-If you have scheduled a second visit to Machu Picchu, take the challenge of climbing the Huayna Picchu mountain! The view from above is simply amazing!
3.-Visit the handicraft markets and stores especially while you are in Lima, Arequipa or Cusco. Our handicrafts are all made in Peru and there is a wide range of articles for all likes, styles and ages. From knitted finger puppets to gold and silver jewelry.
4.-Eat a Ceviche. The Peruvian gastronomy is very rich and diverse and perhaps Ceviche is the most popular dish among locals and foreigners.
5.-If you have some free time in Lima, visit the Larco Museum. This private collection displays well preserved pieces from the pre Inca times until the colonial times including ceramics, textiles , mummies and pieces made of gold.
6.-Drink a Pisco Sour, Peru´s national drink! The Peruvian Pisco Sour requires the use of Peruvian Pisco as the base liquor and the addition of lime (or lemon) juice, syrup, ice, egg white, and Angostura bitters. The cocktail originated in Peru in the early 1920s and it’s been popular since then.
7.-Take a buggy ride and sandboarding in Ica or Paracas’ dunes! Take a time to feel the adrenaline in the south of Lima between your visit to the Ballestas Islands and the Nazca Lines!
8.-A canopy tour in the Amazon Jungle or southern Rainforest of Tambopata. These bridges are completely safe, even for children. Visitors hang out for hours on the walkway, peering down the sides of trees to the jungle floor below or scanning over the treetops for hundreds of different birds.
9.-Hike the Colca Canyon, a great adventure for your trip. The Colca cayon is know as the second deepest canyon in our planet, double deep Grand Canyon in USA. Discover hidden towns in a beautiful Andean valley on your way.
10.-Visit the Titicaca Lake, spend time with the locals and get to know their unique life style in the islands.
