DISCOVERING THE CHILEAN WINECOUNTRY

A few weeks ago, we took a trip to visit once again Chile, but this time we decided to visit a place where we had not been before: the winecountry of Chile where some of the best wines of worldwide recognition are produced.

The first place we visited was the valley of San Antonio, located a little over an hour of modern Santiago.

We were very entertaining on the road with beautiful views of all the valleys. Suddenly our transport took the detour that took us to the vineyard Matetic and after a few minutes we arrived at the beautiful La Casona Boutique hotel.
Here we were received with a welcome drink.
After the friendly welcome, we settled into our rooms which were very warm and made us feel like being housed in a family’s house.

The hotel atmosphere is quite cozy, actually is a house of small and very luxurious countryside, every corner is decorated tastefully and according to the environment.

That day we decided to take it easy and relaxed in the endless gardens. The weather was very nice although it was very cold in Santiago that morning.
We enjoyed of the sun, we took a walk along the lagoon watching the graceful swans swimming and of course, we have to work for a while with meetings with the hotel’s management but did not feel we were working on such a nice atmosphere.

The food at the hotel was delicious … but highlighted the house wines of course! We enjoyed a pleasant outdoor lunch and an intimate dinner in the main dining room of the mansion.

The next day we were taken in a vehicle for about 15 minutes to within the vineyard through fields of vine plantations. We were enchanted with the relaxing landscape that included cute lambs with their babies, enjoying the fields!

There were also some llamas and many geese, chickens, ducks. We then learned that Matetic has a very natural method of producing wine using natural fertilizers of these animals instead of using artificial products so even if this increases the price of the production, the result is much better compared with other vineyards where the process is more modern and more industrial.

From the top where the plant is located we could see part of the vast land. We realized  Matetic is so big that you can not see the beginning and the end of their fields and that is why they can offer different activities for their visitors such us biking, hiking, horseback riding or tours in car for those who can not walk much but do not want to miss anything !.

That evening we returned to Santiago with the feeling of having spent time in one of the most peaceful places in South America!
Would you like to have a similar adventure? We can include a full day or a 2 days/1 night experience on your program either after or before visiting other highlights in Chile.
This place is also suitable for families with children as the outdoor activities as anyone can skipp the wine tasting or the explanation about the wine production.
