Salar de Uyuni <\/b>(or Uyuni Salt Flats ) is the world\u2019s largest salt flat<\/b>, near the southwestern region of Bolivia<\/b><\/u>, standing at 3,600 metres above sea level. The area has long been popular with tourists, particularly those looking for a holiday with a difference.<\/p>\n

The Salar de Uyuni was created when a prehistoric lake dried up and left a salty crust behind. When it rains, the salty crust becomes a giant mirror….and a giant mirror means giant, double sunsets!<\/b><\/p>\n

This incredibly flat expanse of salt looks from outside this world. Not only when it rains but during the wet season<\/b>, fascinating photographs can be taken by visitors, as the salt flat gets flooded over with a thin layer of water. It produces a mirror-like surface<\/b> that allows for perfect reflections of the sky. Looks like something out of a space-travel movie.<\/p>\n

Even though you are visiting this place during the dry season<\/b>, the landscape is still incredible \u2013 perfect for some surreal photographs<\/b>.<\/p>\n

Visitors to the area can take in the vast white expanse of salt and the stunning surrounding vistas, while staying with locals in an area which feels cut off from the modern world.<\/p>\n
